Eat Your Heart Out at the London Restaurant Festival

England’s capital city London, is a wonderful, culturally rich metropolis that has you on your toes for miles on end as you take in the wide array of tourist attractions: Tate Modern, Big Ben, London Eye, Notting Hill (Portobello Road), Camden Market, Trafalgar Square … the list goes on and on.

This weekend, however, visitors as well as locals will most likely focus on treating their taste buds at the first ever London Restaurant Festival. Starting this Thursday, from October 8 until October 13, ca. 500 restaurants are participating at the inaugural event offering festival menus, allowing foodies to enjoy scrumptious sampled sizes and course meals at a low fixed price.

Some of the events require purchased tickets. One of my personal favorite, highlighted event is going to take place every night at the London Eye.  Each night at the London Eye Restaurant Capsule , one of the city’s top restaurants will host a dine high dinner to a table of 10 inside a single capsule. This capsule will be illuminated and making the usual rounds, offering a one-of-a-kind dining experience with spectacular birds-eye-views of the city.  Tickets are sold out except for the October 13 dining experience hosted by Alan Bird and Gary Lee from the famous The Ivy restaurant.

Another event not to be missed is the Big Roast on Sunday (October 11) cooked by top chefs including Mark Hix, Rowley Leigh, Richard Corrigan and Fergus Henderson. (Tickets go for £40 and £50.)

If you’re in the London area between October 8  – 13 and when your stomach starts to rumble remember to head out and dig into the delicacy roaming the city streets.
