Die-Hard March Madness Fan? Our Inside Tips for Indianapolis in April

The NCAA March Madness is coming to a thrilling close! With less than two weeks until the Final Four on April 3-5, throngs of college hoops fanatics will be heading to Indianapolis to get in on the action.

While top-seeded Kansas blew up lots of fans’ brackets with a surprising loss to Northern Iowa, perennial powerhouse teams like Duke, Ohio State, Syracuse and Kentucky are keeping things interesting on the road to Lucas Oil Stadium.

Indianapolis hotels are already heavily booked, especially downtown, but at press time, there were still deals available at top-rated hotels such as the Omni Severin Hotel and Conrad Indianapolis. Grab a hotel while you can!

Tickets to the Final Four are also still available, but like Indy hotel rooms, they’re getting harder to find at the $210 starting price tag. So if you’re going to be in the city but can’t get into these hot-selling games, here are some of our local fans’ picks for the best sports bars in Indianapolis to catch the men’s Division I basketball finals:

Bourbon Street Distillery: 361 Indiana Ave., Indianapolis, Indiana; Tel. 317.636.3316

Champps: 49 W. Maryland St., Indianapolis, Indiana; Tel. 317.951.0033

Coaches Tavern: 28 S. Pennsylvania St., Indianapolis, Indiana; Tel. 317.917.119

Slippery Noodle Inn: 372 S. Meridian St., Indianapolis, Indiana; Tel. 317.631.6974

Bonus Insider Tip:
If you’re looking for Indianapolis nightlife beyond downtown, check out Broad Ripple Ave. in Broad Ripple Village, an area of Indy that’s been compared to New York’s Greenwich Village. With its riverfront location, restaurants and bars, and reputation for nightlife, the Broad Ripple area is a must for your March Madness celebrations.
