Indianapolis: March Madness Family Fun

padding: none;If you plan on bringing the kids along to the ‘Madness’, you may want to enjoy the family friendly places Indianapolis has to offer. From the great Planetarium at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to the beautiful ‘Butterflies’
show at The White River Gardens, Indianapolis has much in store for family fun.

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is known to be one of the largest children’s museums in the world. Interactive exhibits will educate and entertain your children with everything from archaeology to world cultures to biotechnology. The museum also has a great planetarium – the SpaceQuest Planetarium. You can see the stars of the Indiana night sky or learn how a telescope works. See into the beautiful nebluae in this 130-seat theatre with an amazing sound system giving you the full effect of space travel. Ride the antique carousel for simply $1 per ride and visit the new exhibits that have recently opened such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Barbie: The Fashion Experience.

Garfield Park Conservatory and Sunken Gardens

Visit the oldest park in Indianapolis! Formed in the late 1800’s, Garfield Park and its beautiful horticulture is open to the public seven days a week. The conservatory features special exhibits throughout the year. The latest exhibit is the Spring Bulb Show. Running from March 26th – April 2nd, brilliant tulips and other spring blooms are added to the beauty of Garfield Park. This year’s bulb show is accented by the wire sculptures of local artist Giselle Trujillo. For more information on these exhibits, visit: http://www.indygov.org/EGOV/CITY/DPR/Pages/IndyParksHome.aspx

Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens

Located in White River State Park downtown, The Indianapolis Zoo features 3800 animals representing 320 species. The zoo also features a Dolphin In-Water Adventure. Guests are given the change to swim with dolphins. In the pool, the guest will experience a day in the life of dolphin trainers with different activities such as feeding a dolphin, signaling the dolphin to carry out a behavior and many other hands-on interactions.

The White River Gardens’ most popular show, Butterflies has arrived! During this show, which runs from March 20 to September 7, 2010, the Hilbert Conservatory fills with delicate, free-flying butterflies. Hundreds – close to thousands of vibrant butterflies flutter around the conservatory. Educational material on the lives of butterflies and their roles in our environment is also provided at the exhibit.

Acapulco Joe’s Mexican Food

Hungry? Grab a bite at Acapulco Joe’s. Authentic Mexican food, antique building structure and the South of the Border decor is what brings customers coming back for more. Serving combination plates, strip steak, burgers and fried ice cream guests have been anything but dissapointed with Joe’s. With affordable prices and delicious, homestyle Mexican food – who can resist?

Enjoy March Madness the Indianapolis way – whether it be seeing the great sites or huddling around the TV with your family. Indianapolis awaits!
